THE TOUR
As the sun dips below the skyline, we'll set out on a photographic adventure along London's South Bank, chasing the city as it transforms from day to night. We'll explore the Thames waterfront, crossing bridges and seeking out hidden vantage points to capture iconic landmarks including Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, and the London Eye. As darkness falls and the city lights ignite, London's skyline comes alive with reflections, colour, and atmosphere—revealing the perfect conditions for creating truly unforgettable images. This is when the city shows its most dramatic side, and where the real photographic magic begins.
To make the most of London's spectacular nightscapes, you'll need a sturdy tripod for capturing stunning long-exposure images. If you've never experimented with long exposures before, prepare to be amazed by what your camera is capable of creating after dark.
As we explore the city, we'll guide you through the camera settings, techniques, and creative approaches that transform ordinary scenes into striking night photographs. You'll learn how to use shutter speed, light, and movement to create dramatic effects, while also discovering how reflections, leading lines, and architectural framing can add depth and impact to your images. By the end of the tour, you'll not only have a collection of unique photographs, but also the skills and confidence to continue shooting the city at night on your own.
To finish our adventure, we'll make our way to St Paul's Cathedral, one of London's most spectacular locations for low-light photography. Against the backdrop of this iconic landmark, we'll photograph the city's famous red buses as they sweep through the streets, creating the perfect opportunity to put your new skills into practice.
Using the techniques and camera settings you've learned throughout the tour, you'll capture dramatic light trails, flowing streams of colour, and ethereal ghosting effects that bring your images to life. As the city moves around you, you'll learn how to transform everyday scenes into creative works of art using long exposures and the magic of night photography.
